your mom sounds awesome. The only music I can ever remember from my childhood is misc. classic rock and a shit load of Elton John.

You've just confirmed that you've got the coolest mom ever, at least music wise. The only artist my mom and I really both like is Madonna. My taste really sort of materialised.

That's really funny. I make my mum a mix every mother's day. She really likes all the music I like but doesn't get to hear the new stuff until Mother's day! I made her two this year, one was called "Moz puts the "m" in mother's day"...I've been stuck in a Morrissey hole all month since his show, and my mum really loves him too so I made an all Moz mix.

Thanks guys! ^_^^ You know sometimes I wonder whether or not I would've come across some of the bands that I really like if my parents didn't listen to that stuff- partly because of growing up hearing them I suppose I was more accustomed to certain things. @Victoria Ahha, "Moz puts the "m" in mother's day", that's fab :D Good idea making mixes, too, this all reminds me that I've got to put something together for her..

Am I too late for this party? My dad played a CCR Greatest hits 1, Boston's first LP, A beach Boys Greatest Hits, and a couple Beatles records. My favorite above those though is probably an album from Hati my mom picked up while she was down there. It's called 'Ensem 'Ensem by Scorpio. Hard to describe, but its like two guitar players, a keybordest, bassist, along with conga, drums, trombones, trumpets just jamming with Caribbean groove.

@dz: comments are always welcome on any article :) Can't go wrong with good ol' classic rock- I'll look into that Scorpio album, that one's new to me!

Thanks Marilyn. Tell me if you find anything on it on the web, I haven't really been able too much.
