Max Tannone's Beastie Boys Remixes - Doublecheck Your Head

Doublecheck Your Head, a mash-up of vocals and samples the Beastie Boys' Check Your Head, is the newest freely downloadable offering from remix-master Max Tannone, who we've previously featured here at AFIN for his Jay-Z x Radiohead mash-up Jaydiohead and sequel, Jaydiohead: The Encore. Doublecheck was released in celebration of the recent re-issue of Beastie classic Check Your Head, with four of the remix tracks featured on the Beastie Boys' official site as well: "Jimmy Namaste", "Pass the Gratitude", "3's What'cha Want" (my favorite), and "Booty Groove". As a big fan of the Beastie Boys since birth (yes, really - my parents were fans of them before me, and their logo was one of the first things I could read!), Tannone's remixes here, or mash-ups within mash-ups rather, not only do justice to Check Your Head as an album, but expand the sonic landscape in a cool, kaleidoscopic fashion that is a trademark of his style, and yet sounds fresh and different with every track I've heard him interpret.
