Independent Music Discoveries, Issue #25

~*Updates*~
The Bloodsugars (Label Feature: Engine Room Recordings) - Indie / Pop / Big Beat - New York, USA
Their press release sums them up well: "Imagine a house designed by Paul Simon, built by Prince, and decorated by The Flaming Lips and you'll have some idea of where The Bloodsugars live." They've also grown immensely since I last covered them in the ERR label feature some months ago, catchier and synthier than ever. Mind you, this isn't a retro-rehashing- this is unmistakably their own sound. Stereogum had premiered the Bloodsugars' lovely new single "Light at the End of the Tunnel" recently - watch out for their debut album I Can't Go On, I'll Go On due out November 17th!

Eat the Weeds (Issue #4) - Indie /Acoustic / Pop - British Columbia, Canada
Previously described as "modern acousti-pop with world music influences", Eat the Weeds has a new album out soon, Open Loop Design, from which you can hear two tracks: "Someone Else Made Your Parts" (dramatic and soundtrack-esque) and "Little Cloud" (quiet and cute!).

The Soviets - Indie / Rock / IDM - Northeast UK
Definitely one of the most immediately fabulous submissions I've gotten here at AFIN, the Soviets are a 5-piece band from Newcastle-upon-Tyne playing a rather arty brand of electronically-infused rock that's memorable and, dare-I-say, lovable after just a couple of listens. Check out "No Love" from their debut EP Who We Are (available to purchase from their official site), which contains the lead singles from their full-length album to be released in 2010.
